Attorney General Reveals Investigation into President's Opponents and Jeffrey Epstein Links
On Friday, Pam Bondi assigned Jay Clayton to head an investigation into political adversaries of the President and their links with the late financier. This move came just after the president instructed her to initiate the probe.
During an announcement, the Attorney General commended Jay Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. The official stated, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”
This development contrasts with a recent memorandum from justice department officials which declared that the Epstein files did not warrant further inquiries. As per the memo, authorities “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”
Trump Calls for Focus on Democrats in Epstein Matter
This news coincides with increasing pressure from Trump on congressional Republicans to oppose the public disclosure of files concerning Epstein ahead of an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Several lawmakers are anticipated to support the disclosure.
Newly public emails from Epstein have highlighted the president’s past involvement with the sex trafficker, including information that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.
That same day, Trump announced he would ask the Department of Justice to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, including Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
