{'I could have killed them' - Lawson encounters near miss with Formula 1 track officials
Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson revealed he barely escaped a potentially deadly accident during Sunday's Mexico City Grand Prix when two safety personnel darted across the track right in his path
The dangerous situation took place on the third circuit when safety workers were observed on the circuit as Lawson was returning to the race following an quick visit to the pits to swap his broken nose section

Moments later, Racing Bulls driver Lawson spoke to his team engineer saying: "Are you kidding me? Did you witness that? I nearly... ended their lives"
"I genuinely couldn't process what I was observing"
"I came out on a brand new hard tyres, and then I approached Turn One and unexpectedly appeared two dudes dashing across the track"
"I nearly hit one of them, frankly, it was extremely hazardous"
Safety Concerns Raised
"Clearly there's been a communication breakdown somehow but I've never encountered that before, and I haven't really seen that in the past. It's pretty unacceptable"
"We can't understand how on a ongoing race track marshals can be authorized to just run across the track like that. I don't understand the reason, I'm sure we'll get some sort of explanation, but this absolutely cannot recur"

F1's overseeing organization, the global motorsport federation, is thoroughly reviewing the situation
"After an occurrence at turn one, the race directors was notified that fragments were located on the track at the turning point of that curve" stated the FIA
"During the third lap, safety personnel were alerted and placed on standby to go onto the racing surface and recover the debris once the entire field had cleared the area"
"Immediately when it was understood that Lawson had pitted, the directives to deploy personnel were canceled and a double yellow flag was raised in that section"
